Brief History: Born on 3rd of August 203 to Roger and Annalisa of the Fief of Hayes. As the oldest child of a nobel household, a lot was expected of him. From an early age he wad taught how to read and write plus basic counting which was a lot more than other children his age new. His parents expected for him to go into the Palace to learn to become a knight but he didn't think that was his calling, unlike his younger brother who couldn't wait to start training as a Knight. Gershom had always been fascinated by the work of the Lord Provost and his 'Dogs'- the people who roamed the streets of each town trying to keep peace and hobble (capture) people breaking the law. His parents weren't keen on it but he wouldn't back down. It wasn't like he was an only child and therefore have to train to become a Knight like it was expected of him.
Up until the year 219, the year he turned 16, Gershom had the best tutors that he could get in history, mathematics, reading amd writing. These men were educated priests who for one reason or another didn't teach at the Palace. Upon turning 16 he entered the Provost's Dog's as a Puppy to train for a year under two Dogs in the district he was assigned to. Quickly proving that he knew what he was doing, Gersham quickly progressed through his training and became a Dog eight months later. As a Dog he continued to progress through the ranks and in 233 became the youngest ever Lord Provost at the age of 30. He had taken the job as District Commander three years earlier after being badly injured by a Cove. They had thought that he would never recover even with the help of magic, but after a year and a half of hardwork he proved them wrong, though he maintained his position as District Commander.
When he was 20 his parents introduced him to a young woman of the same standing as him. Quickly becoming friends with her, it wasn't long until they fell in love. Marrying four years later, they moved unto their own home and she tried to get him to quit his job- and it wasn't the last either. She didn't think it was a fitting occupation of someone of their rank to do but he refused as he loved his job too much. A year later they had their first child who unfortunately died hours later. The next five or so years miscarriages, stillborn's and infant deaths continued to plague the couple, they just couldn't seem to have healthy, living child. Eventually they gave up trying for one.
In 235 a group of coves started to terroise Corus, especially the lower city with murders and the like. For three years they managed to evade capture. The situation got so bad that Gersham was in danger of loosing his job, especially by the year 238. That wad the year he met Beka Cooper. One day she stopped him in the steet and told him that if he came with her he would be able to catch them. Despite the fact that she was only eight at the time he went with her. This turned out to be a good idea as she lead him to them and in the process managed to save his position as the Lord Provost of Tortall. Three days later while Beka was out he payed a visit to her mother and convinced them yo move in with him and his wife in thanks for Beka's part in the capture while Beka was out knowing that she would have convinced her mother to refuse his offer. Once the family had moved into his house, his wife took Beka's siblings under her watch to train to become proper lord's and ladies while he started to train Beka in the ways of the Dogs as that was what she wanted the most in her life, even if his wife disagreed vehmently with that. Apart from that, the next two years passed quickly and relatively quitely until the day he arrived here

Writing Sample (minimum of 100 words please) Gershom sighed as he looked over the maps, reports and everything ese on his desk. No matter how many things he completed, the pile continued to grow which, he admitted was quite frustrating. One would think, with as much time as he did singing things- as that was just what most of them needed- the pile would somewhat shrink. It was no wonder that his hair was starting to grey at such an early age. Signing his name once again and sitting the report to the side he lifted his head as he heard a knock on his office door. "Come in," he called curious as to who it could be.
